The Balochistan government has suspended mobile internet services in all 36 districts from November 10 to 16 due to the prevailing security situation, while all transport services on the N-70 Loralai section of the National Highway will remain halted until November 14.
According to the provincial Home Department, a security alert has been issued, and the temporary suspension of services has been deemed necessary in light of current circumstances. Officials said that internet services will remain unavailable in all rural areas of the province, although Quetta has been exempted from the restrictions.
However, residents have complained that several parts of Quetta are experiencing weak signals and difficulty accessing the internet despite the exemption.
The provincial government further clarified that due to security concerns and law and order challenges, all transport services—including taxis and private vehicles—on the N-70 Loralai section will remain suspended until November 14, 2025. The restriction, however, will not apply to local or within-city travel to ensure citizens can meet essential daily needs.
The Home Department has instructed district administrations, police, and relevant agencies to immediately enforce the decision and arrange alternative facilities for public convenience.
Citizens have been advised to verify official travel advisories before planning any journey through the Loralai route to avoid inconvenience.
Meanwhile, all educational institutions in Quetta’s cantonment area remained closed today. Officials stated that due to security concerns, schools and colleges in the cantonment will remain shut from November 12 to 16, although several government schools in other parts of the city continued operating.
