Sindh’s Senior Minister for Transport, Sharjeel Inam Memon, has inaugurated the Pink Bus service on the Green Line track at Numaish in Karachi. Speaking to the media after the inauguration ceremony, he said that more good news regarding the transport sector will emerge in the coming days, including the launch of double-decker buses on Shahrah-e-Faisal.
The minister stated that dedicated buses for women will also be introduced within the electric bus fleet to provide safer and more comfortable travel. He announced that the Transport Department is launching a program for free customised bikes, while separate mobility solutions are being developed for persons with disabilities and members of the transgender community.
Sharjeel Inam Memon further said that disputes regarding the Red Line BRT project are close to being resolved, and political parties as well as the media will soon be briefed on the matter. He added that the completion of the project will be a significant milestone for Karachi’s transport infrastructure.
Speaking about the 27th Constitutional Amendment, the minister described it as a “win-win” for all provinces, as it ensures equal representation in the Constitutional Court. He noted that the concept of such a court was originally part of the Charter of Democracy, and its establishment will contribute to faster case disposal and judicial efficiency.
He added that there is nothing wrong if courts operate under parliamentary oversight and critics are free to express their opinions regarding the amendment; however, this step will ultimately help strengthen the judicial system.
