India has been removed from the global technology alliance Pax Silica, a development that has sparked strong reactions within Indian political circles. Opposition parties have sharply criticized the Modi government, calling the move a major diplomatic setback for the country.
Senior Indian opposition leader Jairam Ramesh reacted strongly to the decision, stating that India’s defeat at the hands of Pakistan in May, followed by its removal from Pax Silica by the United States, clearly reflects the Modi government’s failure and embarrassment at the global level. He said the decision highlights India’s growing diplomatic isolation under the current leadership.
Ramesh further remarked that being excluded from an important alliance like Pax Silica could have serious political, economic, and technological consequences for India. According to him, the move signals a decline in global confidence in the Modi government’s policies and its ability to safeguard India’s international standing.
Pax Silica is a global digital technology alliance aimed at establishing a secure and reliable silicon supply chain among trusted partner countries. The alliance focuses on cooperation in advanced technology, semiconductors, and digital infrastructure to ensure stability and security in global supply chains.
Experts believe that India’s removal from Pax Silica could negatively impact its international partnerships, technology sector collaboration, and future investments. Indian opposition leaders argue that this development may pose significant challenges for India’s economy and technological growth in the coming years.
