The first supermoon of the New Year will be visible in the sky tonight, during which the full moon will appear noticeably larger and brighter than usual, offering a striking celestial sight for observers.
In Pakistan, the supermoon will begin at 5:51 pm, while according to SUPARCO, the supermoon is expected to appear approximately 6 to 7 percent larger than an ordinary full moon, making its size and brightness more prominent.
This supermoon is traditionally known as the Wolf Moon. Astronomical experts say that its most beautiful view can be witnessed at moonrise during the early part of the night, when the moon appears closer to the horizon.
According to experts, this will be the final supermoon in the series that began in October 2025, marking the conclusion of the current supermoon cycle.
Scientists explain that a supermoon occurs when the moon comes closer to Earth than its average distance, and due to this proximity, the moon appears larger and brighter than normal.
