Iranian Chief Justice Ghulam Hussain Mohseni has made it clear that no leniency will be shown toward elements involved in spreading unrest and chaos in the country, and strict action will be taken against them in accordance with the law.
According to news agency Mizan, the chief justice, while addressing a meeting of the judicial council, directed the attorney general and prosecutors of all provinces to take firm and lawful action against troublemakers and their supporters.
Referring to recent incidents in the country, the chief justice said that hostile elements are making failed attempts to create instability in Iran. He emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran clearly distinguishes between peaceful protesters and elements involved in acts of sabotage.
Gholam Hossein Mohseni stated that those who endanger public and national security will be dealt with decisively under the law, and the state will fulfill its responsibilities.
It is worth noting that protests against rising inflation and the sharp decline in the value of the national currency have been ongoing in Iran for the past nine days. According to a report by the human rights monitoring news agency HRANA, the death toll from clashes between protesters and security forces has reached 19, while more than 50 protesters have been injured in firing incidents.
