Continuing protests in Iran have intensified and spread to 78 cities across 26 provinces, where clashes between protesters and security forces have raised the death toll to 19.
According to a report by the human rights monitoring news agency HRANA, more than 50 protesters have been injured in firing incidents, while Iranian security forces have arrested 990 people during operations across the country.
HRANA stated that despite strict security measures and the deployment of additional police and security personnel, protest demonstrations continue to expand, with large numbers of people taking to the streets in various cities.
The report said that the ongoing protests in Iran have entered their ninth day, while university students are also actively participating in protest activities, further escalating tensions.
According to HRANA, police and security forces used firing, tear gas, and mass arrests in an effort to curb the protests and prevent them from spreading further.
Meanwhile, the government has announced a monthly allowance of seven dollars for the next four months to ease public pressure and provide temporary relief amid rising inflation.
On the other hand, Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said that the legitimate demands of protesters should be accepted, adding that alleged conspiracies by foreign agents would be thwarted.
