Peshawar: The forensic analysis of videos and audiovisual material related to the May 9 incidents has been completed, confirming the alleged presence of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, along with several other political figures. According to sources, the analysis was conducted by the Punjab Forensic Science Laboratory at the request of Peshawar police.
Sources said the forensic report was prepared on the basis of material contained in a USB sent by Police Station Sharqi Peshawar, which included videos and other audio-visual evidence linked to the May 9 incidents. The report states that a total of 16 videos were examined frame by frame in detail.
According to the forensic findings, no evidence of editing was found in several videos, while the addition of logos and text was detected in some clips. The report further noted that signs of clip splicing were identified in two videos related to Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and Irfan Saleem.
Despite this, forensic experts matched the individuals appearing in the videos with their profile images, leading to the confirmation of the presence of Sohail Afridi, Irfan Saleem, Kamran Bangash, and Taimur Jhagra in the footage. The laboratory stated that the profile image of Sohail Afridi matched the person seen in the May 9 video, while similar matches were also found for the other political figures.
The report clarified that the entire analysis was limited strictly to visual material and did not include any legal or political interpretation. Sources said the preparation of the report was completed between December 19 and December 23, 2025.
The forensic report was prepared on the orders of an anti-terrorism court, which had sought a detailed analysis of the videos in the Radio Pakistan attack case. Acting on the court’s directive, police forwarded the material to the Punjab Forensic Science Laboratory for examination.
