Kamalia: A temporary iron bridge over the River Ravi, which had earlier been swept away by recent flooding, has collapsed once again just a month after its restoration, cutting off land connectivity for several villages in the area. The collapse has caused serious difficulties for local residents, disrupting daily movement and access.
According to local sources, the breakdown of the bridge has forced villagers to use longer alternative routes, increasing travel time and hardship. Residents have expressed concerns over the weak construction of the temporary bridge and questioned the performance of the relevant authorities.
It is worth noting that Punjab witnessed devastating floods in August last year, causing widespread destruction and heavy damage to infrastructure. The situation in the River Ravi during the floods was described by locals as unprecedented, saying such scenes had not been witnessed for decades.
Local residents have urged the authorities to construct a permanent and durable bridge instead of relying on temporary arrangements, so that connectivity can be restored and similar problems can be avoided in the future.
