Tehran: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that Iran is fully prepared for both war and negotiations amid the current situation. In a statement, he said that violence escalated over the weekend, during which terrorists targeted both protesters and security forces; however, he stressed that the situation is now completely under control.
The Iranian foreign minister stated that peaceful protests in the country gradually turned violent over the past few days. He said that during two weeks, 350 mosques were set on fire amid the unrest, yet Iranian security forces exercised maximum restraint while dealing with violent demonstrations.
Araghchi said the protesters’ demands were largely legitimate and that the government was listening to them, but the situation was deliberately pushed toward chaos. He added that after remarks by former US President Donald Trump regarding intervention, the protests turned bloody in an attempt to create justification for foreign interference.
He reiterated that Iran is ready for any eventuality, saying that the country is prepared for both war and negotiations.
It is worth noting that Donald Trump recently claimed that Iran has reached out for talks and that arrangements are being made. At the same time, Trump also warned that the United States is considering military options against Iran, which could be used even before negotiations begin.
