Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is facing serious turmoil due to the policies of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and the continued incompetence of the provincial government, resulting in a deteriorating law and order situation.
Addressing the National Assembly, Talal Chaudhry stated that National Action Plan II was formulated during PTI’s tenure, and all political parties were in consensus over the National Action Plan, yet the lack of effective implementation allowed conditions to worsen.
He said that whatever is happening in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today is taking place with the provincial government fully on board, while the same party has ruled the province for the past 14 years. He added that intelligence-based operations are being conducted on a daily basis, but despite this, terrorism-related issues persist.
The minister made it clear that there can be no sympathy for terrorists and that strict action against them is unavoidable to ensure the safety and security of the country and its people.
Talal Chaudhry questioned why a Counter Terrorism Department was not established in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and why the provincial government failed to strengthen counter-terrorism institutions. He said the provincial government’s performance has been zero and that it continued to play political games, due to which the entire country suffered from terrorism.
He further asked who stopped the provincial government from establishing the CTD and who prevented it from standing alongside the armed forces on counter-terrorism efforts. He added that when the provincial government is invited to meetings, it fails to attend, despite the fact that the counter-terrorism drive consists of 22 key points.
Speaking about the NFC, the minister said that from July 2010 to November 2025, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has received Rs5,867 billion, yet governance and security challenges in the province remain unresolved.
