MQM Pakistan has adopted a strong stance over the Gul Plaza tragedy, demanding the resignation of Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, and Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon. The party stated that it would not step back from holding those responsible accountable for the tragic incident.
MQM Pakistan also announced that it remains firm on its demand for the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the Gul Plaza incident, emphasizing that no pressure would deter it from pursuing this demand.
Senior MQM leader Farooq Sattar said the party wants to make it clear to the Sindh chief minister, the information minister, and the Karachi mayor that attempts to divert attention from the Gul Plaza tragedy will not succeed. He stated that even if the Sindh government withdraws security from MQM leaders or files false cases against them, the party will continue its struggle to ensure justice for the victims of the Gul Plaza tragedy.
MQM Pakistan has decided to raise a strong voice for the rights of the Gul Plaza victims. At the same time, a party meeting also discussed options, including protests, raising the issue forcefully in legislative assemblies, and pursuing legal action.
Earlier, MQM leader Mustafa Kamal had alleged that the Sindh government had withdrawn security from MQM’s federal ministers and party leaders.
According to sources, security has now been restored to Khalid Maqbool, Mustafa Kamal, Farooq Sattar, and Anees Qaimkhani.
