Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has stated that the prisoner held in Adiala Jail will be released only after completing the full sentence, making it clear that no exception will be made in this regard.
Speaking to the media, he said that the provincial government appears to have a single agenda of securing the prisoner’s release, but the law requires the sentence to be served in full.
He clarified that if the prisoner was shifted to a hospital, providing medical treatment to a patient is not wrong, as jail rules allow prisoners access to healthcare facilities, and the same principle was applied in this case.
The KP governor rejected reports of an operation in Tirah Valley, stating that residents of the area migrate every year during winter. He added that at present, only a verbal dispute is ongoing regarding Tirah, and reports of a major operation are unfounded.
Faisal Karim Kundi said that the provincial government allocated Rs4 billion for this purpose during the current year and has initiated the registration of internally displaced persons. According to him, around 50 to 60 percent of people migrated due to fears of an operation, whereas previously up to 30 percent would migrate during winter along with their children.
He further said that operations against terrorists are carried out everywhere, regardless of whether it is welcomed or not, adding that action will be taken from Chitral to Dera Ismail Khan wherever terrorists are present.
The governor also advised PTI to form two parties, suggesting that one of them could be named the “Tehreek-e-Intishar.”
Responding to a question about whether the 28th constitutional amendment would be introduced after Eid, Faisal Karim Kundi said that if the amendment is presented after Eid, it will be debated in parliament.
