The first national polio eradication campaign of 2026 is continuing across the country on its fifth day, during which more than 42.2 million children have been administered polio drops nationwide in the first four days of the drive. Officials state that the campaign is progressing steadily to protect children from the crippling disease.
According to the National Emergency Operations Center, the polio campaign is being conducted simultaneously in Pakistan and Afghanistan, aiming to curb cross-border transmission of the virus and strengthen regional efforts to eliminate polio.
Data released by the National EOC shows that more than 22.4 million children have been vaccinated in Punjab, over 9.585 million in Sindh, more than 6.764 million in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, around 2.055 million in Balochistan, and over 454,000 children in the federal capital, Islamabad.
Meanwhile, more than 261,000 children in Gilgit-Baltistan and over 673,000 children in Azad Kashmir have also received polio drops, reflecting the wide coverage of the campaign.
Officials further stated that more than 400,000 polio workers are actively going door to door across the country to vaccinate children, emphasizing that parental cooperation remains crucial for the success of the nationwide drive.
