The Supreme Court has rejected the request filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf lawyers seeking immediate permission to meet PTI founder Imran Khan, stating that no such order can be issued without serving prior notice.
During the hearing, senior PTI lawyer and leader Latif Khosa requested the court to allow a meeting with Imran Khan. Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, however, observed that the court could not issue any directive on the matter without first issuing notices.
The Chief Justice remarked that objections regarding the maintainability of the petition still exist and must be addressed before proceeding further. He also noted that several cases related to Imran Khan are currently pending before other courts, which need to be kept in consideration.
Justice Yahya Afridi further stated that no order regarding a meeting could be passed without fulfilling the required legal formalities, including the issuance of notices.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court also dismissed Imran Khan’s bail plea in the Al-Qadir Trust case after declaring it ineffective. The court held that since the petition had become infructuous, it no longer required adjudication.
