The Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Aleema Khan, sister of the PTI founder, due to her continuous absence in the November 26 protest case, marking a significant development in the proceedings.
The hearing of the case was conducted by Judge Amjad Ali Shah of the Anti-Terrorism Court, during which the matter of the accused’s absence was taken up.
The court rejected Aleema Khan’s plea for exemption from appearance and directed the police to execute the arrest warrants to ensure her presence at the next hearing.
During the proceedings, Prosecutor Zaheer Shah informed the court that cross-examination of 16 witnesses has already been completed, while two witnesses remain to be examined, indicating that the case is nearing its final stages.
The prosecutor stated that the accused’s repeated absence is affecting the trial and appears to be an attempt to obstruct court proceedings, following which the court issued the warrants.
