In Peshawar, a lawyer has been sentenced to six months in prison in a contempt of court case for inappropriate and disrespectful behavior toward a female civil judge. The verdict was delivered by Peshawar High Court Justice Ejaz Anwar, under which Asadullah, a member of the District Bar Association of Swat, was awarded the sentence.
In its remarks, the court stated that the accused lawyer not only threatened the female civil judge but also used inappropriate language. According to the court’s observations, the lawyer allegedly attempted to exert pressure to obtain a favorable decision, an act deemed contrary to the dignity of the judiciary.
Justice Ejaz Anwar noted that the accused provided an unsatisfactory response and failed to appear before the court despite its orders. The court ruled that such conduct could not be overlooked, and on these grounds, the lawyer was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment.
