Authorities in Abu Dhabi have announced that the United Arab Emirates will not allow its airspace to be used for any attacks on Iran. UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Al Hashimy stated during a press briefing that the country does not want further escalation in the region.
Reem Al Hashimy said that Iran’s ballistic missile program poses a threat to the region, but the UAE also reserves the full right to defend itself. She added that a military solution is not possible and escalating tensions would harm the entire region.
She further stated that following Iranian attacks, the UAE closed its embassy in Tehran and recalled its ambassador as a precautionary diplomatic measure amid rising tensions.
Meanwhile, military officials in Abu Dhabi said the country is on high alert. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense stated that UAE armed forces are in full combat readiness and there will be no compromise on the nation’s sovereignty and security.
