Two of Karachi’s busiest roads, MT Khan Road and Mai Kolachi Road, have once again been closed for traffic, causing increased congestion in central parts of the city.
According to traffic police, earlier in the morning the road from Jinnah Bridge to PIDC was temporarily opened for small vehicles. Similarly, the route from the Mai Kolachi gate area toward Jinnah Bridge was also opened for light traffic for a short period. The road from PIDC to Sultanabad was also briefly made accessible for small vehicles.
However, the road from Sultanabad traffic section to the Mai Kolachi gate has now been closed again. Traffic police stated that MT Khan Road remains closed, with barriers placed and additional police personnel deployed. Containers have also been placed on the PIDC bridge to block traffic.
Meanwhile, both directions of Mai Kolachi Road have also been closed. Authorities said traffic from PIDC is being diverted toward Khajoor Chowk, while vehicles coming from Mai Kolachi are being turned back.
Traffic from Jinnah Bridge is being redirected toward II Chundrigar Road, resulting in heavy traffic pressure on that route.
