Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to work together to peacefully resolve ongoing regional tensions and prevent them from turning into a wider conflict among Muslim countries.
The understanding emerged during high-level discussions held in Jeddah during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s brief but significant visit to Saudi Arabia.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was accompanied by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The Pakistani delegation held detailed talks with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman regarding the rising tensions in the Middle East.
According to sources familiar with the discussions, both sides agreed that the current regional situation requires urgent diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation and to resolve disputes through dialogue rather than confrontation.
Both countries reaffirmed their long-standing policy that conflicts within the Muslim world should be avoided and every effort should be made to prevent the situation from evolving into a broader confrontation among Muslim nations.
During the talks, the Pakistani delegation expressed strong solidarity with Saudi Arabia and reiterated that Pakistan has always stood by the Kingdom’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.
Officials said the Pakistani leadership also emphasized Saudi Arabia’s special significance as the custodian of Islam’s holiest sites, stating that their protection remains a matter of honor and responsibility for Pakistan and its armed forces.
Sources also highlighted the symbolic importance of Field Marshal Asim Munir attending the meeting in military uniform, which was viewed as a sign of unity between Pakistan’s civilian and military leadership regarding Saudi Arabia’s security.
It was further reported that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman hosted a special dinner in honor of the Pakistani delegation, attended only by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Field Marshal Asim Munir, reflecting the close and special relationship between the two countries.
According to officials, both sides also agreed that reducing hostility, preventing further escalation, and promoting unity within the Muslim world are essential in the current situation.
