U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that a change in government has taken place in Iran and that the United States is now negotiating with new individuals, whom he described as more reasonable than before.
In his statement, Trump said it will soon become clear whether Iranian Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf is ready to work with the United States, adding that clarity on the matter will emerge within a week.
He stated that discussions are ongoing with the new leadership in Iran, and so far, these new figures have shown a more constructive and reasonable approach compared to the past.
Speaking about Iran’s Supreme Leader, Trump said that there is no clear information about the new leader, but he believes Mojtaba Khamenei is alive, though reportedly in poor condition.
The U.S. President warned that if no agreement is reached with Iran and the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened soon, the United States may target Iran’s power plants, oil wells, and water treatment facilities, which have so far been deliberately avoided.
