Several cities in Sindh witnessed record-breaking rainfall within 24 hours during April, marking a significant shift in weather patterns.
According to the Meteorological Department, Karachi recorded its highest April rainfall in 41 years, with 38.6 millimeters of rain at Karachi Airport. Previously, the highest April rainfall at this location was recorded in 1985, measuring 37 millimeters.
Similarly, Mohenjo-daro received 60 millimeters of rainfall, breaking a 31-year-old record. In comparison, only 22 millimeters of rain had been recorded there in April 1995, making the recent rainfall significantly higher.
Temperature records were also affected, as Larkana’s 1989 record of 26°C was broken, with temperatures dropping to 22.5°C. Likewise, Badin’s 1967 record of 26.1°C was surpassed, with a new temperature of 26°C recorded.
