No significant progress has been made in ongoing mediation efforts between the United States and Iran; however, sources familiar with the process say that the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, and Türkiye are working to develop a confidence-building package.
According to sources, efforts are underway to formulate a package that could help extend the deadline set by US President Donald Trump and facilitate a meeting between the involved parties.
Sources further stated that the three foreign ministers held telephone discussions with US envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on the matter, but no agreement was reached on any such package that could extend the deadline or assist in advancing negotiations.
Meanwhile, in an interview with an American newspaper, President Trump said that no specific timeline can be given for ending the conflict with Iran, but warned that if Iran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz by Tuesday evening, Iranian power plants could be targeted.
The US President also stated that detailed negotiations with Iran are ongoing and that a deal could potentially be reached before his set deadline expires.
