In an inspiring initiative in Attock, 18-year-old Muniba Maqsood, who is living with thalassemia, was appointed Honorary Deputy Commissioner for a day.
Muniba arrived at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office with her parents and was warmly welcomed by the district administration. Officials described her not merely as a guest but as a symbol of courage, determination and hope.
The honorary appointment was made by Rao Atif Raza. During her visit, Muniba occupied the Deputy Commissioner’s chair and received briefings on administrative responsibilities, public services and district governance.
Speaking on the occasion, Muniba said it was one of the most memorable moments of her life.
She stated, “Today is not just another day for me; it is a dream I never imagined would come true. Although I live with a medical condition, my dreams are very big. Sitting in this chair has given me confidence that life can still be beautiful and that no dream is impossible if you never lose hope.”
Citizens and social organizations praised the initiative, calling it a powerful message of encouragement for children and young people living with thalassemia and other health challenges.
Observers noted that such initiatives help promote inclusion, confidence and positivity while highlighting the potential of individuals who overcome significant challenges in life.
