The United States has reimposed restrictions on Iran’s oil sales.
According to foreign media reports, Washington accused Iran of targeting commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and imposed fresh restrictions on the sale of Iranian oil.
Following a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, Washington had allowed Tehran to sell oil until August 21.
However, the US Treasury Department has now introduced new restrictions, limiting the permission period to July 17.
Reacting to the US decision, Iran described the new sanctions as a violation of the memorandum of understanding.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry said Tehran would respond appropriately to the US action to protect its national interests and security.
The ministry said the United States had violated the memorandum of understanding and was responsible for the current situation.
Last month, the United States had allowed Iran to ship crude oil and petrochemical products.
