The European Commission has identified Pakistan as the largest beneficiary of the Generalised Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP+) programme.
According to the Commission’s latest report, Pakistani exports worth €7.5 billion qualified for GSP+ trade preferences in 2024.
The report stated that the scheme helped Pakistan save approximately €732 million in tariffs during the year.
It also noted that Pakistan achieved a 95.1 percent utilisation rate of the available GSP+ trade preferences, reflecting strong use of the programme.
According to the report, the European Union imported 28 percent of Pakistan’s total exports in 2024.
Pakistani textiles, garments, leather products, processed food and other export goods were among the major sectors benefiting from the preferential trade scheme.
The European Commission further stated that Pakistan has maintained ratification of all 27 international conventions linked to GSP+ and has continued to cooperate with the European Union’s monitoring mechanism.
