Islamabad: Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Umar Ata Bandial, has suggested that elections can be held after the big Eid in July. He urged the parties not to show stubbornness and said that negotiations could be successful through give and take.
During the hearing of the election case in the Supreme Court, a suggestion was put forward by the Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami that the general elections should be held after the big Eid.
The Chief Justice remarked that it will be reported that party leaders should not sit after Eid and the hearing will be adjourned until 4 pm and instructed that they should be informed of the progress by 2 pm.
The Chief Justice said, “There cannot be any stubbornness in negotiations, negotiations can be successful through give and take.”
Earlier, Farooq Naik had informed the court that the heads of government political parties will make a final decision after Eid, after which dialogue will be held with the Tehreek-e-Insaf.
The Chief Justice remarked that it should be remembered that the court decision exists. “It is certain that no member of the assembly wants to go against the court decision, today no political leader has said that the decision is wrong.”
The Chief Justice said, “All political leaders have today pledged to defend the constitution. If they do not follow the constitution, many turns will come.”
The Chief Justice said, “Sirajul Haq, Muslim League-N and People’s Party have made efforts, later PTI has also talked about elections together. It is expected that Maulana Fazlur Rehman will also show flexibility.”
The Chief Justice said that the in-camera briefing was given, but the court had already given its decision. The court will not withdraw its decision of May 14, no one has challenged the decision.
The Chief Justice remarked that ‘withdrawal of a court decision is not a joke, there is a procedure for removing court decisions and 30 days have passed.
