Islamabad: The government shared the budget proposals for the next financial year with the IMF. According to sources, the officials of the Ministry of Finance want to reach an agreement with the IMF before the budget.
According to sources in the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry will engage with IMF officials after assessing the budget proposed by the IMF.
It is reported that the recommendations of the IMF, including targets and loan repayments, have been shared with the IMF, while discussions on financing for the next fiscal year are also ongoing with the IMF’s State Bank officials.
According to sources, the Finance Ministry officials want to reach an agreement with the IMF before the budget. Pakistan intends to immediately send the IMF Executive Board for approval of the Staff-Level Agreement. Once the Staff-Level Agreement is completed, negotiations for the tenth and eleventh reviews will commence.
Sources state that negotiations with the IMF are usually positive, but the IMF’s stance tends to change during the implementation phase.
