LAHORE: Four people, including a woman named Amna Urooj, have been taken into custody by the police in connection with the abduction of well-known Pakistani poet, director, and screenwriter Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar.
The police’s Organized Crime Unit detained four individuals, one of whom was a woman, on suspicion of abducting and abusing a well-known screenwriter.
According to local media sources, police have allegedly located the automobile that was used in the kidnapping, and CCTV footage was utilized to identify suspects. Reports of the incident came from Lahore’s Bahria Town.
Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar, a well-known poet, filmmaker, and screenwriter from Pakistan, was allegedly kidnapped and freed after his captors received a ransom.
A group of seven guys allegedly forced their way into a home where Qamar had been invited by a woman named Amna to talk about a possible theater project, according to a police report filed at the Sunder Police Station.
The author of Mere Paas Tum Ho claimed that after being taken to a secret location, he was tortured by the armed men who threatened to kill him and demanded a ransom of Rs. 10 million. Qamar reported to the police that he had been robbed of his possessions, which included an ATM card, a cell phone, and a watch.
The author claimed that his captors had taken his cellphone data and utilized it on their own devices, forcing him to provide his password under duress.
