Chairman PTI, Barrister Gohar Khan, has stated that when the accountability court judge announced the verdict, PTI founder Imran Khan laughed and remarked that judges who deliver unfair verdicts get promotions, whereas those who deliver just verdicts are made Officers on Special Duty (OSD).
Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Barrister Gohar Khan further said that Bushra Bibi also smiled upon hearing the decision. “We are not surprised by the verdict,” he noted. “For the past two years, we have observed an unfair and discriminatory attitude from the judiciary.”
He added that in this case, Imran Khan never became the owner of the university but merely served as a trustee, and never gained even a single rupee from the trust—something that witnesses also confirmed. Bushra Bibi is a trustee of the institution that provides education to children, yet she has been sentenced to seven years.
It should be noted that Accountability Court Judge Nasir Javed Rana has sentenced PTI founder Imran Khan to 14 years in prison and imposed a fine of one million rupees in the 190 million-pound case, while his wife Bushra Bibi has been sentenced to seven years and fined five hundred thousand rupees. Both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were present in the courtroom.
In his verdict, the judge stated that if Imran Khan fails to pay the fine, he will face an additional six months in prison, whereas Bushra Bibi will face an additional three months if she does not pay. The Accountability Court also ordered that the Al-Qadir Trust be taken into government custody. Following the verdict, Bushra Bibi was arrested in the courtroom, and Judge Nasir Javed Rana departed after announcing the decision.
