President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, has stated that China has never played the role of a colonial power in history and does not interfere in other countries’ affairs. He emphasized that there is no need to fear China’s progress.
In an interview with a Chinese broadcasting network, he highlighted that the Pakistan-China friendship is not just for good times but is an everlasting bond. He reaffirmed that both nations are close neighbors and will remain friends under all circumstances. Pakistan seeks to benefit from China’s development and geographical advantages while maintaining strong ties with the Chinese people.
The president praised Chinese President Xi Jinping, describing him as a strong and determined leader with a deep understanding of global affairs. He acknowledged the historical and generational ties between Pakistan and China and expressed admiration for Xi Jinping’s governance philosophy. He noted that under Xi’s leadership, China has made remarkable progress, which is beneficial for the world.
He reiterated that China has never acted as an occupying force and does not interfere in other nations’ affairs. He stressed the need for stronger and more sustainable connections with China, including infrastructure and communication improvements.
Discussing economic cooperation, he mentioned that China can assist Pakistan in the agricultural sector, as Pakistan’s per-acre productivity is lower compared to China. Special industrial parks for Chinese investments are being developed in Pakistan, and the country aims to utilize Chinese technology in various fields, including the environment and irrigation.
President Zardari emphasized that China’s progress is in the best interest of the region. He also noted that China’s advancements in the space sector are not new, and Pakistan is working to enhance its capabilities in collaboration with China. He expressed confidence that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will contribute to regional development. He reiterated that Pakistan’s primary focus is on stability, and strengthening ties with China remains a top priority.
