Pakistan’s opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad has accused national team captain Mohammad Rizwan of making immature decisions following Pakistan’s defeat in the final of the Tri-Nation Series against New Zealand.
In the final played at the National Stadium Karachi, New Zealand defeated Pakistan by five wickets to claim the trophy. Batting first, Pakistan was bowled out for 242 runs in 50 overs.
New Zealand successfully chased the target in 45.2 overs with five wickets in hand. During the match, Pakistan’s fielders dropped three crucial catches of Tom Latham.
After the match, Ahmed Shehzad criticized Rizwan’s captaincy on his YouTube channel, calling his decisions childish.
He questioned Rizwan’s decision to bat first after winning the toss, arguing that Karachi’s pitch is more effective at night and that bowlers struggle to grip the ball under lights.
Ahmed Shehzad further pointed out that Pakistan’s repeated mistakes, including dropped catches and lackluster bowling, made it impossible to win.
It is worth noting that the Champions Trophy will begin on February 19, with Pakistan facing New Zealand in their opening match. The final will be held on March 9.
