Lahore: National team opener batsman Fakhr Zaman informed Mohammad Amir over the phone regarding the nature of his injury. Mohammad Amir, detailing his conversation with Fakhr Zaman, stated that the opener suffered from a side strain.
Speaking on a private TV channel, Amir said that he contacted Fakhr to determine whether the injury was a sprain or a back injury. Fakhr Zaman informed Mohammad Amir that it was a side strain, which could sideline him from cricket for nearly two months.
Amir further added that during their morning conversation, Fakhr mentioned that he was experiencing a mild cough, which, due to the injury, was causing severe discomfort and difficulty in breathing.
Mohammad Amir noted that typically, such an injury takes about six weeks to heal, after which the recovery process begins.
Fakhr Zaman got injured in the very first over of the match against New Zealand and left the field. Later, he attempted a return but had to leave the ground again due to the pain. However, despite the discomfort, he was sent out to bat and scored 24 runs before getting out.
Imran Haq has been included in the national squad as a replacement for Fakhr Zaman. He will join the team in Dubai today and is expected to participate in the important match against India on 23 February.
