IRSA officials have dismissed the initial report claiming an excess water supply to Sindh, stating that the authority always ensures fair distribution of water, depriving no one of their rightful share.
According to the IRSA spokesperson, the authority has begun reviewing the letter sent by the Punjab government and will assess all aspects of the letter thoroughly.
The spokesperson added that all four provinces are collectively bearing the water shortage, and in light of the sensitive national situation, blame games should be avoided. IRSA is a regulatory body and operates under strict monitoring.
According to IRSA sources, provinces used their allocated water during the Rabi season, and water distribution for the Kharif season is also being carried out as per regulations. An automated system is in place, making it impossible for any province to take more than its share.
It is worth mentioning that the Punjab government had written a letter to the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) on Monday, claiming a 43% water shortage for Kharif crops and accusing the authority of reducing Sindh’s share while allowing more water for Punjab.
