Pakistan has strongly condemned the recent speech by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Gujarat, calling it hateful, violent, and a violation of international norms, while urging the global community to take notice.
Reacting to Modi’s remarks made during an election rally, the Foreign Office stated that such an extremely irresponsible statement from the prime minister of a nuclear-armed country like India is alarming.
The spokesperson of the Foreign Office said that Pakistan considers Modi’s remarks reckless and provocative. Pakistan will confront any threat to its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and retains the right to self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs demanded that the international community take notice of India’s inflammatory rhetoric, as it endangers regional peace and stability. If India is truly concerned about extremism, it should focus on addressing the rise of Hindutva ideology and hostility towards minorities within its borders.
It further stated that the purpose of Modi’s remarks is to divert attention from ongoing human rights violations in Indian-occupied Kashmir. Modi’s statements in Gujarat have further escalated tensions in an already unstable region.
The Foreign Office asserted that such remarks are a clear violation of the core principles of the UN Charter, which obligates member states to resolve disputes peacefully and refrain from threats or use of force against the sovereignty or political independence of any state.
It should be noted that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a rally in Gujarat, once again leveled terrorism allegations against Pakistan in a highly dramatic tone.
Modi said, “I want to ask the people of Pakistan: what have you achieved? India has become the world’s fourth-largest economy—look at your condition.”
He further added that to rid Pakistan of the disease of terrorism, the people and youth of Pakistan must come forward, live a peaceful life, eat your bread—or else, my bullet is ready.
Known as the “Butcher of Gujarat,” Modi went on to make serious accusations, claiming that terrorism has become a source of income for Pakistan’s government and military, and that the people of Pakistan must act to end terrorism.
