Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra is under immense political pressure following the leak of a phone call with the former Prime Minister of Cambodia, which has sparked growing demands for her resignation.
According to international media reports, the leaked audio has led several coalition parties to withdraw their support from the government, further weakening its position.
Reports indicate that in the call, the Prime Minister referred to the former Cambodian leader in a casual tone, calling him “uncle,” and discussed the dismissal of a Thai military commander. The conversation revolved around a border dispute between the two countries.
Media sources say that the Prime Minister now also faces accusations of undermining the country’s military institutions, which has stirred public anger and concern among political circles.
Later, the Prime Minister issued an apology for the leaked conversation, acknowledging that it caused public dissatisfaction and expressing regret over the matter.
It is worth noting that Paetongtarn Shinawatra was elected Prime Minister in August 2024, and her government is now facing a deepening political crisis.
