A major catastrophe was averted in Islamabad and Rawalpindi as a highly dangerous terrorist affiliated with the Khawarij group was arrested in a joint operation conducted by intelligence agencies and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).
According to the CTD spokesperson, the arrested terrorist has been identified as Musa, who was apprehended in Rawalpindi based on intelligence information, while he had a large cache of weapons and explosive material.
Initial investigations revealed that the terrorist had conducted full reconnaissance of sensitive locations in Rawalpindi and was planning attacks. Recovered from his possession were explosives, hand grenades, safety fuse wires, a seven-foot-long wire, three detonators, a remote button, a prima card, firearms, and ammunition.
Further disclosures revealed that Musa had traveled to Afghanistan multiple times in the past, where he received formal terrorist training. During this period, he remained in contact with a key commander of the Khawarij group. A few days ago, he uploaded videos of sensitive sites on social media, which prompted immediate action from security agencies.
According to the spokesperson, CTD Punjab has registered a case against the arrested terrorist and expanded the scope of the investigation. Further operations are underway to trace his facilitators and dismantle the broader network based on the information obtained.
