The federal government has decided to deploy the Pakistan Army and Civil Armed Forces across the country to ensure strict and foolproof security arrangements for the Chehlum of Imam Hussain (RA). The decision follows formal requests from the governments of all four provinces, Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, as well as the district administration of Islamabad.
According to official sources, orders have been issued in light of federal cabinet approval, authorizing the deployment of military and civil armed forces to maintain law and order during Chehlum and to deal with any untoward incidents.
The Pakistan Army has been deployed under Article 245 of the Constitution, while the Civil Armed Forces have been deployed under the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997. These forces will assist provincial governments and district administrations in ensuring maximum security during processions and gatherings.
It was further stated that the Islamabad district administration also specifically requested additional security for Chehlum processions and gatherings, which has now been incorporated into the security plan. The Army and Civil Armed Forces will not only be stationed at sensitive locations but will also handle crowd control, monitor entry and exit points, and respond promptly to any emergencies during the Chehlum events.
