Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, held telephonic conversations with various political leaders because of the recent heavy monsoon rains and resulting urban flooding across different regions of the country. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives and the financial damages caused by the disaster.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister spoke with Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. During their conversation, he expressed concern over the severe rainfall and urban flooding in Sindh, particularly Karachi, and offered full federal assistance and cooperation to the provincial government.
The Prime Minister directed the Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to remain in close coordination with the Sindh government, extend maximum support to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), and ensure that the public is warned about possible risks.
He also held a telephonic conversation with Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Chief Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, during which they discussed the losses in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to heavy rains and the ongoing relief operations. The Prime Minister appreciated the active role of Al-Khidmat Foundation in rescue and relief activities in the affected areas.
In a separate discussion with Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, the Prime Minister reviewed the challenges arising from the recent and expected rains in Sindh and assured that all federal institutions, including NDMA, will provide complete support.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that the federal government stands firmly with the provincial governments and will extend all possible measures to protect citizens and ensure timely relief operations in affected regions.
