Barrister Gohar, Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has categorically rejected the impression of any “deal,” stating that if such a deal had existed, the PTI founder would not have spent two years in prison.
Speaking in Peshawar, he said the party is struggling for the supremacy of the judiciary and democracy, and the cases against them are politically motivated.
According to him, those who left the party were never charged, while PTI leaders faced punishments and disqualifications. He stressed that a political solution is essential, adding that it is still not too late.
Barrister Gohar further remarked that not every politician is like Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan, who could bring parties together to find a solution. He confirmed that no negotiations are currently underway.
When asked how a political solution could emerge without decision-making authority, he replied that he represents the PTI founder, whether he is inside jail or outside. He emphasized that the PTI founder is not rigid and has shown considerable flexibility over the past three years. After the alleged mandate theft, he even suggested talks, but nothing materialized.
He recalled that during the 26th Amendment, the PTI founder once again called for dialogue, but it yielded no results. “There must be goodwill from both sides,” he said, adding that even meetings with the PTI founder are not facilitated, despite it being his right.
Regarding Salman Akram Raja’s resignation, Barrister Gohar said he did not know the details but added that the matter was now behind them.
