An important update has been issued for Pakistani pilgrims traveling to Iraq, as the Iraqi government has introduced new regulations for those intending to visit holy shrines. Under the revised rules, male pilgrims under the age of 50 will not be granted a pilgrimage visa if they apply alone.
According to a formal circular released by Mujahid Ali Khan, Section Officer for Pilgrimage at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Iraqi authorities have enforced new guidelines that set an age limit for male visitors to ensure better management of religious travel.
The circular further clarifies that men under 50 years of age will only be eligible for a pilgrimage visa if they apply together with their families. Applications submitted by individuals under 50 traveling alone will be rejected outright. Authorities say this measure aims to regulate and safeguard the flow of visitors to Iraq’s holy sites.
