The Sindh government has decided to provide free electric scooters to women under the Pink Scooties Program, an initiative aimed at offering women a safe, dignified, and cost-effective mode of transportation.
The decision was taken in a high-level meeting chaired by Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon. The meeting was attended by Transport Secretary Asad Zaman, Sindh Mass Transit Authority Managing Director Kanwal Bhutto, and other senior officials.
Speaking after the meeting, Sharjeel Inam Memon said the provincial government is taking a revolutionary step this week to facilitate women and female students, making their daily commuting easier while saving both time and expenses. He explained that the program is specifically designed for women who rely on public transportation for education, employment, or other essential needs.
He added that the Sindh Mass Transit Authority is maintaining records of applicants, and the scooters will be allocated strictly based on merit and necessity. A transparent and simple mechanism has been developed to ensure that the maximum number of women can benefit from this facility.
Sharjeel Inam Memon emphasized that the Sindh government is committed to empowering women in every sphere of life, and this scheme will serve as an important milestone in that direction. He also urged female students and working women to take full advantage of the program so they can actively participate in education, employment, and other fields.
