A detailed statement has been released regarding the meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and U.S. President Donald Trump, which was also attended by Field Marshal Asim Munir.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the meeting took place in a warm and cordial atmosphere. During the discussions, Prime Minister Sharif described President Trump as a champion of peace and praised his leadership.
The statement said both leaders exchanged views on counterterrorism cooperation, regional security, and bilateral relations. Prime Minister Sharif thanked President Trump for publicly acknowledging Pakistan’s role in the fight against terrorism and emphasized the need to further strengthen cooperation in security and intelligence.
He noted that President Trump is actively working to resolve conflicts worldwide. Sharif appreciated Trump’s bold and decisive leadership, which helped facilitate a ceasefire between Pakistan and India, thereby preventing a major catastrophe in South Asia.
On the Middle East situation, the Prime Minister commended Trump’s efforts to end the war in Gaza. He particularly welcomed Trump’s initiative earlier this week to invite Muslim world leaders to New York for comprehensive talks aimed at restoring peace in Gaza and the West Bank.
The Prime Minister also thanked President Trump for the tariff arrangements agreed earlier this year between Pakistan and the United States. Recalling the long-standing partnership between the two nations, he expressed confidence that under Trump’s leadership, the bilateral relationship would be further strengthened for mutual benefit. He also invited U.S. companies to invest in Pakistan’s agriculture, IT, mining, minerals, and energy sectors.
According to the statement, Prime Minister Sharif extended a warm invitation to President Trump to undertake an official visit to Pakistan at his convenience. The Oval Office meeting lasted around 55 minutes and was also attended by U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
