Pakistan cricket team head coach Mike Hesson has delivered a special message to his players ahead of the historic Asia Cup final against India, the first time the two sides will meet in the tournament’s final.
Speaking at a press conference after Pakistan’s victory over Bangladesh at the Dubai Cricket Stadium, Hesson advised his players to remain fully focused on the game. He said that in high-pressure matches, emotions and passion are natural, but true success comes when energy is directed solely toward performance.
The head coach admitted that Pakistan’s performance in the first clash against India was below par but highlighted that the team showed significant improvement and fought hard in the second encounter.
Expressing determination, Hesson said Pakistan managed to keep India under pressure for a long period in the last match, but the real test will be to sustain that pressure throughout the game to secure victory.
He added that the team has gained fresh confidence from recent wins, and the players are now determined to seize this historic opportunity.
It is noteworthy that India has won the Asia Cup eight times, while Pakistan has lifted the trophy only twice, last doing so in 2012. For the first time in the 41-year history of the tournament, Pakistan and India will face each other in the final, scheduled for Sunday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
