Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has revealed that after Saudi Arabia, several other countries have also expressed interest in entering into defense agreements with Pakistan. He stated that Pakistan’s recent military achievements have demonstrated its capabilities to the world, and now the country must also secure major successes in the economic arena to emerge as a strong economic power.
Speaking to journalists in London, Dar said that the recent historic defense pact between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia was in the mutual interest of both countries and faced no objections from any third party. He noted that following this development, multiple states have shown willingness for similar cooperation, reflecting Pakistan’s growing defense and diplomatic influence.
Dar further said that Pakistan has sent a clear message to the world: it is fully capable of defending its borders effectively and also has the capacity to play a pivotal role in promoting peace and stability in the region. He also highlighted ongoing government efforts to strengthen the economy, stressing that Pakistan now needs new victories in the economic sphere alongside its defense achievements.
It is noteworthy that on September 17, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia signed a landmark defense agreement in Riyadh, under which any aggression against one country will be considered an attack on both. Experts described the pact as a major step toward maintaining strategic balance in the region, while observers believe that growing international interest will further enhance Pakistan’s global standing and open new avenues of military, economic, and diplomatic cooperation.
