The ICC Women’s World Cup officially begins today, with the opening match set to take place between India and Sri Lanka in Guwahati. A total of eight teams are participating in the tournament, including defending champions Australia, as well as New Zealand, South Africa, England, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and hosts India.
Pakistan’s women’s team will play all of its matches in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. The national side will kick off its campaign on October 2 with an important clash against Bangladesh, for which preparations are already underway.
On this occasion, Pakistan captain Fatima Sana said that extensive and intense training sessions have been held in Colombo. She expressed satisfaction with the energy and determination of her players, stating that the team is ready to step into the field with full commitment.
The Pakistan squad includes captain Fatima Sana along with Muneeba Ali, Sidra Ameen, Aliya Riaz, Shawaal Zulfiqar, Sadaf Shamas, Natalia Pervaiz, Eman Fatima, Diana Baig, Rameen Shamim, Sidra Nawaz, Omaima Sohail, Syeda Aroob Shah, Nashra Sandhu, and Sadia Iqbal.
