A potential power-sharing deal between the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in Balochistan has sparked political debate, with reports suggesting a 2.5-year agreement between the two parties.
According to reports, PML-N lawmakers claim they have been informed by their party leadership about the 2.5-year agreement. However, PPP leaders have denied the existence of any such deal, insisting that their government in Balochistan will complete its full five-year term.
Speaking to the media after a Balochistan Assembly session, PML-N MPA Zarak Khan Mandokhail said their leadership had made it clear that the provincial government would be shared equally between the two parties. He stated that the agreement was said to be in written form and that everything would become clear once the two-and-a-half-year period was completed.
On the other hand, PPP’s Provincial Irrigation Minister Mir Sadiq Umrani rejected the claim, saying no agreement was made at the time of government formation. He emphasized that the PPP would complete its five-year term and warned that if the PPP withdraws its support in the center, the PML-N government at the federal level would collapse.
PPP Balochistan leader and MPA Ali Madad Jatak added that if such an agreement indeed exists, then Bilawal Bhutto would become Prime Minister after two and a half years, and the PPP would hand over the Balochistan government to the PML-N.
