The Islamabad District and Sessions Court has extended its earlier order preventing the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan in the May 9 and five other related cases, prolonging the relief until December 23. The court has also extended the pre-arrest bail of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, directing that both be produced through video link at the next hearing.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majōka heard the cases on the May 9 incidents and several other charges. However, due to Imran Khan’s absence, the court was unable to hear arguments on the bail petitions, after which the proceedings were adjourned until December 23.
Under the current court order, the pre-arrest bail granted to Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi remains intact, and the court has instructed that Imran Khan’s appearance at the next hearing be ensured via video link to maintain the continuity of the legal process.
It is noteworthy that Imran Khan faces multiple cases, including those related to the events of May 9, attempted murder, and alleged forged receipts, while Bushra Bibi is also facing a case involving the submission of purportedly fake receipts.
Following the court’s decision, the arrest of the PTI founder and his family members will not be possible until December 23, granting them temporary protection from custody.
