KARACHI: Water supply across several areas of the city has been disrupted due to scheduled maintenance at the Dhabeji grid station, with officials warning of a possible shortfall of up to 100 million gallons.
According to details, K-Electric had earlier shared its annual maintenance schedule with the Water Corporation, under which a 12-hour shutdown is being observed today (Thursday, 27 November). The shutdown, starting at 8 a.m. and ending at 8 p.m., has partially suspended electricity to multiple feeders supplying the Dhabeji pumping system.
The Water Corporation stated that Karachi usually receives 650 million gallons of water daily from Dhabeji, but due to the power suspension, the supply has temporarily decreased to around 550 million gallons, potentially affecting several neighborhoods.
Areas expected to face noticeable reduction include Landhi, Korangi, and Shah Faisal Colony, while Defence, Chanesar Town, Jinnah Town, North Nazimabad, and Gulberg Town may also experience partial disruptions.
Both K-Electric and the Water Corporation have advised residents to store adequate water and avoid unnecessary consumption until normal supply is restored.
