Karachi: Acting on the orders of the Sindh High Court, a member of the inspection team submitted a detailed report revealing that all milk samples collected from various parts of Sindh were found to be substandard and unfit for human consumption.
The constitutional bench of the Sindh High Court resumed hearing a petition filed against the recent increase in milk prices. During the proceedings, the inspection team presented its quality assessment report, which the court officially made part of the record.
According to the report, dozens of milk samples collected from Karachi and other districts were sent to the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA). Laboratory analysis confirmed that none of the samples met the required standards, and all were declared harmful for human health.
The Commissioner of Karachi also submitted the latest price notification for milk in court. The Assistant Advocate General informed the bench that the notification issued on November 27 sets the price at Rs200 per litre for dairy farms, Rs208 per litre for wholesalers, and Rs220 per litre for retailers.
