Rawalpindi: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi has approved the request to unfreeze the bank accounts of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Namal University. The plea was filed by Aleema Khan, and the court issued the order after hearing all arguments.
ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah heard the petitions linked with a case registered at Sadiqabad Police Station in connection with the protest held on November 26. The petitions regarding the unfreezing of Shaukat Khanum and Namal University accounts were taken up alongside the primary case.
During the hearing, the prosecutor informed the court that the prosecution had neither verbally nor in writing requested the freezing of these institutional accounts. He further stated that no court order existed directing the freezing of the hospital or university accounts, and that the State Bank had flagged the accounts based on Aleema Khan’s CNIC details, which mistakenly led to their freezing.
The prosecutor clarified that the state had no objection to unfreezing the accounts of the two institutions, but argued that Aleema Khan’s personal and business accounts should not be restored.
After reviewing the arguments, the court approved the request and ordered the immediate unfreezing of Shaukat Khanum Hospital and Namal University’s accounts.
